Wine and Dine
Now Diners can stay in the Pink.
Worthing Mayor Geraldine Lissenburg was among 200 people who attended last Tuesday night's opening of the Mahaan Indian restaurant's new Pink Gin bar.
The bar was formerly an electrical appliance shop next to the Montague Street restaurant. Now, it provides a comfortable seating area in which diners can relax with a drink before or after their meal.
Owner Abdul Monnan spent about £150,000 on the extension, which brings his total number of covers up to a maximum of 150.
Manager Abdul kadir said: "We needed the new extension because the business was getting bigger and the Mahaan is an even more suitable place for party bookings because of the increased customer capacity."
Mr Kadir said that the Mahaan had built its reputation on superior food and service
and this latter quality was enhanced by the restaurant employing two more waiters than was needed. "This enables us to take more care of our customers, who know they are coming to a place where they are appreciated," said Mr Kadir.
He added that the new extension also included a disabled toilet, so the Mahaan now offered full facilities for the disabled. Last week's opening night included a tasty meal, entertainment in the form of a snake draped belly-dancer and an Indian plate twirler.
A Raffle for a colour Television set, given by Mr Monnan, was held during the evening and raised £408 for the mayor's charity fund.
