Residents of Eriswell Road got the star treat-meat on Friday when filming took place for Vanessa Feltz's new daytime show.

BBC researchers chose the area to film a pilot episode of the programme Street Challenge, in which small communities are set a series of challenges to complete while cameras are rolling. Although the show was based around Eriswell Road, filming also took place in various Worthing locations, including Hogarths in Warwick Street and the church hall in Gratwicke Road.

Vanessa also visited The Mahaan restaurant in Montague Street for dinner with friends and returned for tea the next day.

Part of the filming focused on Clive Andrew Hair Co, based on the corner of Eriswell Road. Jacquline Roberton, of the salon, said, "It was great fun. Our challenge was based around big hair".

Jacquline said, "She was a real star - absolutely fantastic and Vanessa was very nice and very professional. There were loads of people standing and watching, which was great. Whether it gets shown or not is up to the powers that be. If it gets on TV, it will be excellent for Worthing though, especially this end of the town."

Sampling the menu at the Mahaan Restaurant in Montague Street, Worthing a few days ago, was TV celebrity Vanessa Feltz. "She enjoyed the meal and said it was excellent" said restaurant manager Mr A. Kadir, who is pictured  with Vanessa and the Mahaan's owner, Mr Monnan.
